American Motorcyclist features TTC’s How To Ride web pages

The June 2011 issue of AMA’s American Motorcyclist magazine (members only) is out and page 31 has a feature on the TTC, with a focus on our How To Ride tutorial pages.

But while the bikes and terrain are unique, the people you’ll meet and the skills you’ll learn as as genuine as any in motorcycling.

For many in the eastern United States, the Trials Training Center in Sequatchie, Tenn., is "trials central." But the club, which includes a 650-acre riding area, is more than the promoter for the AMA/NATC East Youth MotoTrials Championships and three rounds of the AMA/NATC MotoTrials National Championship Series. It’s also a great place to learn one of motorcycling’s most endearing disciplines.

That message is brought home by the extensive How To Ride section of the club’s website (TrialsTrainingCenter.com > How To Ride). There are 19 chapters, ranging from basic turns, to jumping to "splatters" (whatever those are!), each complete with in-depth instruction, photos and video.

While nothing replaces hands-on experience, the club’s site is a great resource for getting started or rounding out your understanding of one heck of a cool sport.

RYP Radio launches

Brad Baumert, Sherco USA & Ryan Young Products, has launched an online trials radio show called RYP Radio.

Brad BaumertRYP RadioTune in from time to time to listen to the latest interviews about "everything" trials. We will be covering various aspects of trials from competitors, importers, Trials clubs, bike and product reviews, personalities, history and more.

We will also cover international competitors as we can arrange those interviews. Our high tech recording studio is located in the offices of RYP in Shelbyville, KY. We are able to produce, live in studio, telephonic and Skype interviews.

Brad produced 4 episodes in February. Each show can either be streamed or downloaded.

Shan Moore joins the blogosphere

Back in December, I blogged the print and online developments with Trials and Enduro News (formerly Trials Comp).

Since then, webmaster Darrell Shannon (right photo above) converted their site over to WordPress and two weeks ago, Publisher & Editor Shan Moore launched his ShanBlog. (Photos of Shan are from my April, 2008 blog post during the Wagner Cup, USGP at the TTC. I’m sure he’s aged considerably since then.)

An excerpt from ShanBlog post #1:

Because of my background with CN, I have always been reluctant to do a blog because that kind of writing was what I would call off the cuff… something that I’m not good at. I was worried I was too "up-tight" to do a blog, and too worried about making mistakes or saying the wrong thing. Well, I’ve been reading a lot of blogs lately, and I’ve decided no one else worries about those things so why should I.

Also, I have been so tied up with all the events I’ve been covering lately (I’m on the road every weekend covering something… as a freelancer, if you’re not on the road covering something, then your not making money) that I have been hard pressed to find the time. However, I am starting to get a handle on the workload, in addition to getting the hang of putting together 40-something pages of T&E News, so I plan of giving you "off the cuff" updates from all the events I go from here on out.

TTC’s Dan Brown on Pitt Pass Radio

Dan Brown, TTCDan Brown of the Trials Training Center will be on Pitt Pass Radio on Tuesday, February 16. 2010.

The show starts at 8 p.m. Eastern Time and ends at 10 p.m.
